Harwich Promenade – Toe Protection
In the late 90’s Hesselberg Hydro strengthened the seawall between Harwich and Dovercourt by installing a sloped revetment in front of a vertical seawall.
Closer to the town in Harwich a significant increasing in the seawall footprint was not feasible so the client looked for an alternative way to protect the toe of the wall from being undermined. The chosen solution was to install a section of grouted rock 1m x 1m at the toe. The design of the grout and placing temperature was controlled to ensure that the grout penetrated the full depth of the rock.
